Join Our Team as a Casual Commis or Demi Chef at Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre!

Are you passionate about the culinary arts and eager to learn in a vibrant, innovative kitchen? Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre is seeking a talented and motivated Commis or Demi Chef to join our team as a casual Chef. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our Executive Chef and Sous Chef, gaining valuable experience across our exciting food and beverage outlets: Izakaya Publico, Bar 1603, bespoke dining in The Veranda, and in-room dining services.

About the Role

As a Commis or Demi Chef, you’ll be part of a dynamic culinary team, contributing to high-quality dishes and learning the foundations of culinary excellence. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with food preparation and supporting our kitchen team in maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Ensuring that food safety and hygiene standards are strictly followed.
  • Gaining exposure to various kitchen stations and culinary techniques, with opportunities for learning and skill-building.
  • Supporting a collaborative and positive kitchen environment while working across different dining settings.
  • Experience with Japanese fusion cuisine is a bonus but not required.

Key Requirements

  • A passion for food and a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or culinary training is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and an understanding of food safety principles.
  • A flexible and positive attitude with the ability to work on a rotating schedule, including nights and weekends.
