Maintenance Handyperson
The role of Maintenance Handyperson, reporting to the Maintenance Manager at Pro-Invest Hotels, is key to ensuring the delivery of an exceptional guest experience while maintaining the hotel’s facilities to the highest standards. Pro-Invest Hotels is seeking a motivated Maintenance Handyperson to join our team, responsible for performing general maintenance, preventative tasks, and minor repairs across our properties in Brisbane City.
This role involves responding to maintenance requests promptly, assisting in the upkeep of hotel systems and equipment, supporting colleagues, and ensuring all maintenance activities meet safety and quality standards. Candidates should have strong technical skills, attention to detail, experience in general building maintenance, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A commitment to health and safety, teamwork, and the highest level of guest service is essential.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform general building maintenance and minor repairs, including plumbing, tiling, painting, and carpentry.
- Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms, public areas, plant rooms, and high-use equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly (within 30 minutes where possible) and report any urgent issues to the Manager on Duty.
- Maintain and service hotel systems, equipment, and facilities to comply with preventative maintenance programs and safety standards.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of workshops, storage areas, and hard-to-reach areas such as ceilings and air-conditioning units.
- Maintain par stocks of room items and supplies, such as taps, door handles, and locks.
- Liaise with contractors, ensure proper induction, maintain records, and monitor expiry dates of contractor certifications.
- Support waste management, grease trap maintenance, and recycling initiatives.
- Follow manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedules and procedures for all equipment.
- Actively identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, cost-saving measures, and overall efficiency.
- Comply with Workplace Health & Safety regulations, hotel security procedures, and environmental standards at all times.
- Carry necessary tools and equipment to ensure readiness to respond to maintenance needs.
- Support the hotel in Risk Compliance, Fire/Life Safety, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to maintain operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Experience in general building maintenance, repairs, or a similar technical role.
- Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, and general maintenance tasks.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery, equipment, and building systems.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and safety procedures.
- Strong commitment to Workplace Health & Safety and environmental standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role
- Formal qualifications an advantage
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role, ideally within hospitality or property management.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of work.
- Strong record-keeping and documentation skills for maintenance activities.
- Experience liaising with contractors, managing compliance, and monitoring safety procedures.
