Maintenance Handyperson – HIEX Sydney Airport & Kimpton Margot Sydney

Are you a hands-on, proactive individual with a passion for delivering quality maintenance services? We’re looking for a Full-time or Part-time Maintenance Handyperson to join the team at Holiday Inn Express® Sydney Airport and Full-time Maintenance Handyperson at Kimpton Margot Sydney. Both properties are part of the IHG Hotels & Resorts family, known for our commitment to exceptional service and guest satisfaction.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with either of the two iconic hotels, each with its own unique atmosphere and team. Whether you’re supporting our team at HIEX Sydney Airport or contributing to the luxury experience at Kimpton Margot Sydney, you’ll be at the heart of creating a seamless guest experience.

Location 1: Holiday Inn Express® Sydney Airport

About Us:
At Holiday Inn Express® Sydney Airport, we offer smart, simple travel for guests on the go. With 247 rooms, we’re looking for a dedicated Maintenance Handyperson to ensure the property runs smoothly and our guests have a comfortable stay.

Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time

Responsibilities:

  • Guest Maintenance Requests: Address and resolve maintenance issues quickly and efficiently.
  • General Handy Person Duties: Patching, painting, changing light bulbs, fixing doors, and performing basic bathroom maintenance.
  • External Coordination: Organize and manage external trades and suppliers.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Lead and execute the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • General Cleaning & Gardening: Assist with rubbish collection and general grounds-keeping to keep the property in excellent condition.
  • Team Support: Collaborate with other departments and assist with any tasks as required.
  • Physical Tasks: Perform physical activities such as lifting up to 22kg and using ladders.
  • Professional Appearance: Maintain grooming and uniform standards.
  • Guest Communication: Carry a 2-way radio to respond to guest requests throughout the day.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of in-room maintenance and quick turnaround for room readiness.
  • Good communication skills with team members and guests.
  • Proven reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of Safe Work Practices and OH&S regulations.

  • Guest Maintenance Requests: Resolve maintenance issues efficiently to maintain a top-tier guest experience.
  • General Handy Person Duties: Patching, painting, light bulb changes, door repairs, and basic bathroom maintenance.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Manage and execute a detailed preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas, addressing issues as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations and quality service.
  • External Coordination: Work with external trades and suppliers when necessary.
  • Professional Appearance: Maintain a clean, professional appearance and adhere to uniform guidelines.
  • Guest Interaction: Carry a 2-way radio to respond to guest needs and resolve maintenance requests promptly.

Skills & Experience:

  • A proactive, friendly, and "can-do" attitude.
  • Previous experience in a similar maintenance role, preferably within hospitality.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with guests and colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a focus on efficiency.
  • Knowledge of Safe Work practices and OH&S guidelines.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to delivering high-quality service.
