We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Kitchen Steward to join our dynamic team at Kimpton Margot Sydney. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of all food and beverage outlets and equipment, helping us maintain the highest standards of service and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Returns:
Monitor and control stock levels.
Minimise wastage through efficient stock management and adherence to service standards.
Record and log any variances or damaged stock from deliveries, and follow up with suppliers for replacements or reimbursements.
Store goods appropriately in designated food and beverage areas.
Follow sustainable practices to recycle and reduce waste.
Reduce breakages and wastage by following departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
People:
Assist in food preparation and general kitchen duties as required.
Promote teamwork and quality service through communication and collaboration with other departments.
Participate in training sessions and complete any pre/post-course work on time.
Adhere to Kimpton’s brand standards for grooming, presentation, and punctuality.
Ensure a smooth shift handover and maintain cohesive relationships within the team and across the hotel.
Communicate effectively with supervisors to address any challenges or guest feedback.
Guest Experience:
Ensure the constant supply of clean utensils and equipment to all food outlets.
Regularly clean and maintain dishwashing machines to ensure they are in good working order.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and all food handling areas.
Follow all food safety standards and cleaning procedures, including temperature guidelines for dishwashing.
Manage breakfast buffet presentation, setup, and pack down to Kimpton’s standards.
Maintain the cleanliness of the staff dining area and ensure it's well-stocked and tidy.
Complete all required food safety and cleaning documentation on time.
Responsible Business:
Adhere to all company procedures and safety guidelines, including RSA, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
Maintain clean storage and garbage areas, ensuring equipment is stored properly.
Understand and apply WH&S policies, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Assist in emergency response preparations and follow the necessary procedures in case of emergencies (e.g., fire, power outages).
Report hazards and contribute to safety initiatives to minimize risks.
Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines and maintain sanitation standards.
About You:
A keen eye for detail and strong commitment to maintaining hygiene and cleanliness.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and service delivery.
Previous experience in a kitchen or stewarding role is a plus, but not essential.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
