Job Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and flexible Commis Chef to join the kitchen team at our voco & Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre. In this role, you’ll work independently and collaboratively to deliver exceptional food experiences to our guests. You’ll contribute to all aspects of kitchen operations, from food preparation to maintaining hygiene standards, while working closely with senior chefs and the food and beverage team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow the POS Ordering system to ensure accurate order processing and inventory control.

• Minimize food wastage by using correct techniques for storage and food preparation.

• Maintain all kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues promptly.

• Assist in the preparation of mise-en-place and dishes as per the required standards.

• Ensure a clean and organized workspace throughout your shift.

• Communicate and coordinate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

• Respond to guest needs and handle special requests, ensuring a positive guest experience.

• Adhere to all food safety regulations, including HACCP and RSA procedures.

• Contribute to daily briefings, meetings, and any required training sessions.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience in a similar role within a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment.

• Passion for food preparation and delivering high-quality dishes.

• Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.

• Strong team player with excellent communication skills.

• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP).

• RSA certification and relevant kitchen qualifications are desirable.

• A commitment to learning and growth in the culinary field.
